Tells On A Roll (Tellitlikeitis) scored her first harness racing victory in Canada as the 2023 Indiana Sires Stakes champion won the Fillies and Mares Preferred on Friday (Jan. 19) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The mare, driven by Travis Cullen, pushed to the top from the four-hole and carried the lead to the quarter in :27.2 before Dabarndawgswatchin (Louis-Philippe Roy) rolled by her to take command. The latter put up middle panels of :56 and 1:23.4 before Tells On A Roll shifted out for the drive.
The two mares went toe-to-toe down the lane, and Tells On A Roll pulled in front as they raced into the last eighth-of-a-mile. Dabarndawgswatchin prolonged the fight, but Tells On A Roll edged clear a three-quarter-length victory in 1:52.
Dabarndawgswatchin was a clear second-best. Shes Got It All (Scott Young) finished third.
TELLS ON A ROLL REPLAY
Tells On A Roll was making her yearly debut in the win. The mare won three straight stakes in Indiana ā the Sires Stakes Super Final, the Circle City, and the Pegasus ā in October before shipping to Canada for new owners Paul Sanders, A1stable, and Ronald Cullen. Jodie Cullen trains the four-year-old, who has now won 10 of 27 career starts and has earned $366,006.
Racing will continue at Woodbine Mohawk Park at 7:10 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 20.
