Insanity (Muscle Mass) upset his harness racing opponents at 10-1 in the Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Apr. 30).
Jason Ryan rated the gelding to :28.2, :58.4, and 1:27.3 splits on the lead. Andy Over (Ed Hensley) pressed first-up from the half, but the leader kept him at bay the whole way. Insanity allowed the challenger and a host of other horses to make marginal inroads down the stretch but held them off to score by a length-and-a-half in 1:57.4. Andy Over took second with Thirdtimesthedream (Colin Kelly) closing for third.
INSANITY REPLAY
The victory was Insanityās first at the Preferred level of his career. The Ben Hollingsworth trainee is now two-for-13 on the year for owner Michael Goldberg. The six-year-old gelding has taken 17 wins and has earned $183,762 in his 111-start career.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District will continue its racing schedule at 5:50 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 1.
