CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Twin B Tuffenuff (Rock N Rock Heaven) will put his three-race win streak to the test as he kicks off his 2023 harness racing campaign in the Saturday evening (Jun. 10) Preferred Pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Historic Capital Oval will fire off 12-dashes Saturday starting at 6 P.M. with the $3,800 Preferred Pace going to the gate in race 11.
Twin B Tuffenuff is the top choice from post 2 fresh off a pair of 1:55 qualifiers for regular driver Gilles Barrieau. Barrieau will be in Miramichi, N.B., Saturday for his induction into the New Brunswick Sports Hall Of Fame so Kenny Arsenault will pick up the catch drive from the Ron Matheson barn for owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown. The eight-year-old winner of 29 races and $630,000 lifetime won his last three starts of 2022 including a Nova Scotia record mile of 1:50.4 over Truro Raceway in September.
Roll Em (Time To Roll) will be seeking redemption from post 4 after making a break in the first turn as the heavy favourite in his latest Preferred start. Marc Campbell drives his trainee from post 4.
Rollwithhottytoddy (Rollwithitharry) made a break in the mud his last start but will loom the danger with post 1 in the Saturday feature for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Trevor Hicken.
Batterup Hanover (Betting Line) will ship in from Nova Scotia Saturday with post 5 for trainer-driver Paul Langille after a runner-up performance his last time in Charlottetown.
Post 3 has Avatar J (American Ideal) who is to be driven by Adam Merner, for trainer Darren Smith while season’s record holder YS Mathis (Sportswriter) with Corey MacPherson has post 6 from the Campbell barn.
Rounding out the field is post 7 entry Matticulous GB (Hasty Hall) who has Ken Murphy in the bike for trainer Colin Johnson.
The Post Time Picks like Twin B Tuffenuff to deliver on his morning line promise for catch driver Arsenault.
“Twin B Tuffenuff went toe to toe with the big dogs last season and won a lot of big races at this track. Just a friendly reminder Arsenault was on board for the Gold Cup Consolation victory so keep that in mind when placing your wagers.”
Race 6 is the Hillside Chevrolet Drive For Home Series pace with Sweet Success the top choice for trainer-driver Hughes and owners John and Tommy Collings. His top rivals in the $2,300 event are Cheekie Play (MacPherson) and Adkins Hanover (Ambyr Campbell).
