CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The unstoppable harness racing streak will again be put on the line Tuesday evening (Aug. 15) for Irish Ray (Muscle Through It) during Old Home Week action at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The capital track has 13-dashes with a 7 P.M. start time featuring the Atlantic Sires Stakes for two and three-year-old trotters.
Irish Ray has rail control in the race 6 Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old trot class, carrying a $17,920 purse for the lone division. Marc Campbell trains and drives Irish Ray for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston with the sophomore fresh off an Atlantic record mile in his latest. That day in Summerside saw Irish Ray lead at every call to win in 1:57.4 for driver Gilles Barrieau to set the fastest ever mile by an Atlantic Sired three-year-old trotter at an East Coast racetrack. The undefeated trotter will shoot for his 15th win from as many tries on Tuesday.
Fellow Campbell trainee Gettin Salty (To be driven by Adam Merner) is a top contender from post 3 along with the outside duo of Windemeregotmuscle (Jason Hughes) with post 7 and Dusty Lane Kalani (Garry MacDonald) from post 8.
The Post Time Picks like Irish Ray to cruise to his 15th win.
“Irish Ray became the fastest Atlantic Sired three-year-old ever in East Coast history winning last time in Summerside. The son of Muscle Through It has yet to taste defeat and leaving from the rail will make him hard to beat again.”
Races 2 and 4 host Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old trot classes with $10,060 purses in each.
Oceanview Daisy is the top selection in race 2 from post 1 for driver Ken Murphy, trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Hardcore Racing of Belfast.
The second division in race 4 has Rocket Blast (Hughes) selected on top from post 5 for owner-trainer Carl Bagnall of Stratford.
