It Takes Two (Artspeak) demonstrated his flair for the dramatic for a second straight week at The Raceway at the Western Fair on Monday (Mar. 25) as the gelding won another harness racing Preferred by a nose.
Sitting the pocket again, Lorne House kept him in behind Hollys Treasure (Dan Clements) through fractions of :27.3, :57.4, and 1:26.2. It Takes Two swung out entering the stretch and hunted down Hollys Treasure with Taylors Credit (Natasha Day) bearing down on the outside. The closing pair got past Hollys Treasure in the final meters, and It Takes Two hung on by a nose over Taylors Credit for the victory in 1:55.2. Hollys Treasure was a quarter-length back in third. Despite his win last week, It Takes Two went off at 6-1.
IT TAKES TWO REPLAY
It Takes Twoās win was his 15th lifetime in 59 lifetime starts, and it increased his earnings to $107,821. The Scott McNiven-trained gelding has not missed a cheque since June, taking home cash in 30 straight starts. Kimberley McNiven of Putnam and Bradley Douglas of Ingersoll own the four-year-old.
Travis Henry was the dayās winningest driver with three on the 10-race card.
Racing is set to continue at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday, Mar. 26. The feature on the 11-race card, starting at 5:50 p.m. EDT, is a Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace.
