Canada’s leading harness racing driver James MacDonald earned his 3,000th win in the first race of the Breeders Crown elimination card at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Oct. 22).
MacDonald commanded the favoured Southside Eddy (Betterthancheddar) to the top in the second panel, and the three-year-old colt rolled to victory from there in 1:49.3. The reinsman received a presentation in the winner’s circle to commemorate the achievement.
JAMES MACDONALD MILESTONE REPLAY
MacDonald’s 3,000th win came in his 23,525th career start. The Guelph resident drove in his first race in 2009 and has since guided his mounts to more than $51 million in earnings. He received Canada’s Driver of the Year Award in 2021 and has already surpassed that season in starts, wins, and earnings this year.
He guided So Much More to a Breeders Crown final berth one race later on the card.
