James MacDonald’s NA Cup pick revealed

Harness racing driver James MacDonald has selected Redwood Hanover (Stay Hungry) for the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup on Saturday.

His pick was revealed on Wednesday (Jun. 14) in an interview video given shortly after the post draw for the big race. MacDonald had the choice of either Redwood Hanover or Moment Is Here (All Bets Off), both of which randomly drew into the finals after finishing third in their eliminations.

I’m going with Redwood Hanover,” he said in the interview. “I’m kind of going with my gut. I loved the way he raced in the Somebeachsomewhere, I was really proud of how he raced in the NA Cup elim and it was a tough decision. I hope Moment Is Here wins if I don’t.”

Redwood Hanover will start from post eight and is 12-1 on the morning line. Moment Is Here got post one and was assigned a 20-1 billing.
