Charlottetown, PE – Jessiejesorjessica (Justice Hall) reached up in deep stretch to nail fraction setter Irish Ray and capture the harness racing open trot in 1:58.1 Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Adam Merner engineered the winning drive for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owner Danny Birt, Vernon Bridge, PE. The trotter recorded her second victory in a row and 47th lifetime. Irish Ray held on for second while Windemeredontuworry finished third. The 6-3-2 triactor returned $61.60.
Also headlining the card was Share The Moment who tripped the timer in an impressive 1:54.4. Marc Campbell was in the bike for trainer Bo Ford and owners Luke Beck, Scott Bridges and Arnold Myers. The mare picked up her third win of the campaign.
Merner had a grand slam on the evening with his other victories coming aboard czarspieceofheaven for trainer Greg Weatherbee and owner Tammy Johston, Ten Mile House, while Lady Devine stopped the clock in a sparkling 1:55.2. Merner also guided Woodmere Rollily to her 35th lifetime victory. Melissa Rennie conditions the 7-year-old mare for the ownership team of Marsha Knox, Stanhope, PE and Corey Livington, Village Green, PE.
The trainer-owner duo of Doyle and Birt sent our four winners from their stable including Woodmere Heather M who recorded her seventh score in a row in line to Corey MacPherson.
Racing returns Saturday with the new post time of 4:00 PM featuring the All-Star Handicapping Challenge with Ken Warkentin, Garnet Barnsdale and Robert Reid Jr.
