Johnnie Jack snapped the longest losing streak of his career on Saturday at Northside Downs as he vaulted to the lead in the third quarter of the track’s feature and held it to the finish.
In line to Ryan Campbell, the four-year-old sat fourth well behind skirmishing leaders for the first quarter mile in :27.4. He then pulled second-over going to the half in :56.4 and fired to the front after swinging three-wide on the third turn.
Johnnie Jack stopped the clock on the third quarter in 1:26.2 and began kicking away from the field. Opponents gained ground in the final eighth, but he held firm to the finish in 1:57.3. Accelerator (Greg Sparling) closed late and finished second in a photo over Hotlikewasabi (Richie Baryluk).

Johnnie Jack’s win was his first of the year, and it ended a run of seven straight races in which the gelding hit the board but failed to win. Travis Campbell, a resident of Gardiner Mines, owns and trains the son of Westwardho Hanover. The horse has now won 11 of 31 career tries and earned $16,387. He paid $5.10.
Ardon Mofford was the winningest driver of the day with three tallies: Dellas Playboy (2:03.1), Finer Things (2:02.1), and Bet On Art (2:03).
