Harness racing driver Colin Kelly was the top pilot at Hanover Raceway on Saturday with a four-win performance.
The Guelph resident kicked off the card with a natural hat trick.
He steered Arcanum (Archangel) to a 2:00.4 victory from post-six with a long brush from fifth in the second quarter being the winning move. Kristina Anderson trains the six-year-old gelding and co-owns him with Kenneth Wiese.
Up Joeys Credit (Up The Credit) was on another level in Kellyās second win. The sophomore colt streaked away by five lengths in the first quarter and was never less than three ahead in a 2:01.4 maiden-breaking romp. Jacob Roberts owns and trains him.
First Heir (Kadabra) benefited from a pocket trip and a third-quarter duel for the front which left leader Pc Massive Dream (Curtis Clements) just tired enough to give up the lead to him on the line. The Bryan Wick-conditioned five-year-old gelding won by a neck in 2:06. Donna Wick co-owns with the trainer.
Kelly completed his grand slam in the seventh race with Dragon The Line (Dragon Again), who dug in against General Lee (J. Bradley Harris) after leading all the way to score in 1:59.1. The winning gelding is a five-year-old that is owned and trained by Craig Gilmour.
Also on the card, driver Ross Battin received recognition for achieving 5,000 wins. The reinsman has been a regular at Hanover Raceway for much of his career, which spans five decades and more than 33,000 starts. He hit the milestone late in 2021 when the track was closed for the season.
The next card at Hanover Raceway is slated for Saturday, Jun. 18.
