Ladycorona, who just missed tying the track record for three-year-old pacing fillies in her last start, returns to headline the second round of the Breeders Trophy Series at the Hippodrome 3R Sunday (July 30) afternoon.
There are four $7,500 divisions of the series with two races for both the three-year-old pacing fillies and colts. After three preliminary rounds, the top eight point earners will compete in $65,000 finals on Sunday, September 10.
Ladycorona (Bettors Delight) headlines the 10th race, second division of the series for the fillies. She starts from post two for driver Pascal Berube.
It was just two weeks ago that the Yves Tessier trainee came first-over in the series and sped her way to a lifetime best 1:55.2 record. Her clocking was just one-fifth of a second from tying the track record for her age, sex and gait.
Her main competition will be YS Sensationalcity (post 1), who was second to Ladycorona. Also in the field is return winner Senorita I Am (post 7), who won in a lifetime best 1:58.1 for driver Frances Picard.
The first division for the fillies is the 5th race where last year’s two-year-old Quebec champion, Pocahontas Du Lac (Betterthancheddar) is the 4/5 betting favorite for driver Pierre-Luc Roy. Bred and co-owned by Roy’s brother, driving sensation Louis-Philippe Roy, Pocahontas Du Lac is still winless in eight starts this season, finishing third against Ladycorona.
Other contenders include Make Bet SBG (post 2) and Irish Mary (post 5).
The pacing colts and geldings get started in the series in the 3rd race with Fantome En Joie (Shadow Play) the wagering favorite from post five for driver Stephane Brosseau. He has won four of his six starts this year, the fastest was last week in an overnight event when he sped away from the field to win in a romp by six and three-quarter lengths in 1:56.3.
Also in the field are Little Diamond (post 4), Bets Beach (post 3) and Kansas Panic (post 1).
The 7th race is the second division for the colts and featured are Attitude (Leader Bayama), who starts from post two for driver Stephane Brosseau and takes on Kingston Panic (post 3) and YS Cheddar Wheel (post 4).
First race post time is 12:00 noon for the 11-race program. For a free race program, visit here.
