CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Who will land in the Preferred pace winner’s circle is anyone’s guess on the final harness racing program of the Winter Meet Sunday (Feb. 5) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The city track has 10-dashes scheduled for a 1 P.M. opening post time on the Sunday card, rescheduled from Saturday afternoon due to an extreme cold snap enveloping the region.
The $3,300 Preferred Pace featured a field where every horse has won at this level at some point in the season. Middleton Terror (Stonebridge Terror) was top dog last week off a textbook two-hole ride for trainer-driver David Dowling and owners Kingsley Walsh and Frank Balcom. The four-year-old is currently riding a three-race win streak.
Stash It Away (Pang Shui) has shown to be deadly off-the-pace and draws the outside again this week with post 5 for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Kevin MacLean.
Mantario (Sportswriter) leaves off the rail with Myles Heffernan Sr., in tow for the Jennifer Doyle barn while the field also includes Burn Out Hanover (To be driven by Brady Sweet) and Blood Money (Marc Campbell).
The Post Time Picks like Stash It Away to get it all.
“Stash It Away made a big move from the back last week and looked to be a winner only to be nipped at the finish. It was still a great effort and if he does that again could find the wire first this week.”
Race 5 is the Red Shores pace and Brookdale Jim (Corey MacPherson) gets top billing off the rail in the $2,000 dash for the Polley Family of Amherst, N.S., and trainer Phil Sizer. His top rivals are Winter Blast (Campbell) and IC True Grit (Barrieau).
Red Shores will continue to offer the new Isle Pick 5 on the first five races with a $1,500 guaranteed pool and low 15% take-out. Catch all the action live at the track or tune into the Race Day broadcast at Redshores.ca. Online wagering is available at HPIBet.com
