Roulette Hanover (All Bets Off) paid off her backers as the harness racing mare circled the field at 7-1 to win the Fillies and Mares Preferred at Century Mile on Friday (Nov. 8).
Phil Giesbrecht settled the mare into the tail of the field in a :26.3 first quarter and moved out to advance as a battle raged at the front through the half in :55.2. Roulette Hanover, gapped off from her cover, grappled to third on the final turn and took aim at leader Outlawaboveandbeyond (Mike Hennessy) at the top of the stretch.
Roulette Hanover blew by her in the final eighth of a mile and coasted to victory from there, coming home to a three-length victory in 1:54.2.
Gin Is Better (Clinton Warrington) rallied for place, followed by Pirate Booty (Terry Kaufman). The top three created a $755.75 triactor payoff.
ROULETTE HANOVER REPLAY
Roulette Hanover reached double digits in career wins with the victory, her sixth of the season. The mare, who was fittingly hip number 777 at Harrisburg, has earned $88,507 in 53 career appearances. Gerry Hudon trains the four-year-old for Giesbrecht, Monica Hudon of Sturgeon County, and Denise Andrew of Calgary.
Racing continues at Century Mile on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. MST.
