Convoy Twenty Two (Betterthancheddar) rounded up every harness racing rival to circle the field and capture the Autumn Series second leg for two- and three-year-old Ontario-sired colts and geldings on Tuesday (Oct. 22) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The gelding, leaving from the far outside, took back and dropped behind his opponents to trail the field of seven through a :28.2 opening quarter. Daryl Thiessen moved him off the pylons as Roman Rocket (Anthony Haughan) became the raceās third leader before the half in :57.3.
Convoy Twenty Two picked up double cover passing the stands and advanced on the helmet through three-quarters in 1:28. The first-up Peloton Seelster (Paul Macknezie) wrested control going into the final turn, and Convoy Twenty Two tipped further outside to make it three-across going into the stretch. Peloton Seelster straightened for home on top, but Convoy Twenty Two battled gamely to the line and pushed clear by a half-length to prevail in 1:59.
Peloton Seelster finished a narrow second over Wayne Stone (Peter Core).
