Lastkickathecan (Wheeling N Dealin) marched from seventh to first on the outside to take her second Prospect Series harness racing victory on Friday (Jul. 21) at Kawartha Downs.
The filly, driven by Hall of Famer Doug Brown, was stranded seventh on the outside but received a helmet from Painted By Matisse (Preston Shaw). The pair advanced in tandem through the quarter in :29.1 and half in :59.1 until Lastkickathecan had to circle her cover.
Lastkickathecan kicked three-wide going through three quarters and dug into leader Cash Deals (Mario Baillargeon) around the last turn. Cash Deals held her lead until the top of the stretch when Lastkickathecan broke through and sailed two lengths clear in 1:58.4.
Savannahs Dream (Bruce Richardson) led a secondary cavalry charge and finished second. Its Sally Deal (Scott Wray) was third home.
LASTKICKATHECAN REPLAY
Lastkickathecan is now five-for-eight lifetime and has earned $26,710. The Dale Fritz-trained filly has won four of her past five for owner Matthew Trelford of Mildmay.
