Leamington Raceway opened its doors for its first harness racing action of the year on Sunday, hosting 10 dashes.
Lifelong Dream highlighted the card with a last-to-first victory in the featured Preferred 4 Pace. The six-year-old Rambaran mare dropped back to last early and still had all five rivals to pass as the field entered the final quarter. She flew late for driver Andy Moore and put her head in front at the finish for a 1:58.2 victory.
Tyler Borth took an early lead in the driversā standings, winning four races. Marc St. Louis Jr., who won the 2020 driversā title at the southern Ontario oval, was absent while driving at Rideau Carleton Raceway. Trainer Tyler Nostadt sent out two winners, beating all other conditioners.
Driver Lorne House, a Leamington regular, received a commemorative plaque and sign for reaching 1,000 wins during the previous afternoon at Hiawatha Horse Park.
Leamington debuted its new 1:00 p.m. EDT post time. The oval will see action again at that time on Sunday, Aug. 15.
