Little Miss Miley made her first victory of the year a special one as the Stonebridge Terror harness racing filly won the Phil Pinkney Memorial on Wednesday (Jul. 27) at Inverness Raceway.
Myles Heffernan, Sr. put the filly on top, and she led unopposed through :31.4 and 1:00.4 first-half panels. West River Glo (Mary Macdonald) exerted first-over pressure going to three-quarters in 1:30.3.
West River Glo persisted into the stretch, but Little Miss Miley held her advantage down the lane score in 1:59.4. West River Glo was three-quarters of a length short. Stonebeachlily (Redmond Doucet) rallied for third.
The winner paid $4.30.

Heffernan also trains Little Miss Miley, who has now won two races and earned $12,138 in 15 career starts. Jackie Heffernan of Glace Bay owns the filly.
The Phil Pinkney Memorial, renamed from the Nova Scotia Stake to honour Maritimes horseman Phil Pinkney, is for Nova Scotia-foaled or -owned horses. There are divisions for two- and three-year-olds pacers of each sex and open trots for each age. The trotting races will be contested on Aug. 24 at Inverness.
