The top local horseman for Monday night at Grand River Raceway was driver Robert Shepherd of Cambridge.
Shepherd, 35, won three of the 10 races on tonight's race card.
In race four he won with the chestnut trotter Excel P V at odds of 35-1 (returning $64.50 on a $2 WIN bet). It was the five-year-old horse's first career win.
Races seven and eight were back-to-back winners for Shepherd.
Mappos Moenhay was a 2-1 favourite.
It was her 10th career win and bumped her lifetime earnings to $75,000.
Shepherd was back in the winner's circle with Just Plain Luck in race eight.
The 11-year-old pacer is conditioned by Canada's leading trainer, Richard Moreau of Puslinch.
Shepherd is a career winner of 2542 races and has driven horses to purse earnings of more than $18 million.
