Logan Park (Archangel) lowered his career mark as he won the $42,000 Free For All Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Oct. 2) for his ninth top-level harness racing victory of the season.
The odds-on favourite launched from post seven and muscled his way to the lead for regular reinsman Doug McNair. He flew through the opening quarter in :26.4 and lowered the tempo in the second split, reaching the half in :55.4.
Oney Hall (Paul MacDonell), looking for his first Free For All win of the year, made a move from third as the field banked into the final turn. He initially advanced, but the accelerating Logan Park left him two-and-a-half lengths back on the outside as they hit three-quarters in 1:23.2. Logan Park had put the challenger away by mid-stretch, and the gelding soared home unopposed for a 1:50.3 victory by three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Amigo Volo (Louis-Philippe Roy) out-kicked Oney Hall and finished second. Forbidden Trade (Bob McClure) rallied from seventh turning for home to third at the wire.
LOGAN PARK REPLAY
Logan Park is now nine-for-16 on the season and 21-for-60 lifetime. The Monday win brought him nearer to millionaire status, upping his career bankroll to $974,492; another win and a show finish will give the gelding admission to the seven-digit club. Robert Kyle Fellows trains the five-year-old, who has now won back-to-back Free For Alls, for Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Reg Higgs of Strathroy, and Arpad Szabo of Bradford.
