Logan Park (Archangel) resurfaced after his three-week post-Breeders Crown rest on Monday (Nov. 20) with a harness racing victory in the $36,000 Preferred Trot.
The gelding, sent away as the odds on favourite, had the pocket behind Amigo Volo (Tyler Borth) at the quarter in :27.2, but Doug McNair pulled him out and sent him to the front shortly thereafter. Logan Park then rolled to the half in :57.3 unopposed.
Oney Hall (James MacDonald) pulled from third on the far turn and barreled forward to attack Oney Hall at three-quarters in 1:26.1. The challenger could make no effect on the leader though, held at a two-length gap as Amigo Volo also tried to close from the pocket. But Logan Park rebuffed them both, powering home a length-and-a-quarter winner in 1:53.1.
Amigo Volo finished second with a half-length between him and show finisher Pemberton (Trevor Henry).
LOGAN PARK REPLAY
Logan Parkās win was his 24th in 64 lifetime starts. The gelding became a millionaire with his fourth-place finish in the Breeders Crown Open Trot Final and now has a bankroll of $1,069,192. Kyle Fellows trains the five-year-old for Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Reg Higgs of Strathroy, and Arpad Szabo of Bradford.
Cunning Connie (Muscle Mass) jogged in the sole Ontario-sired Harvest Series second leg contest for three-year-old trotting fillies on the card. She stormed away to a huge lead on the back of a final turn pocket-pop, aided by a fading leader, and eased to victory by seven-and-a-half lengths in 1:56.3. Angeliki (Bob McClure) was second over the closing favourite Lucy Who (Jean-Bernard Renaud). Cunning Connie lowered her lifetime mark with the victory, her fourth lifetime in 32 starts. The filly finished second in the first leg for trainer Macy Cassell Smyth and owner Joan Cassell of Smiths Falls. She has now earned $62,345.
CUNNING CONNIE REPLAY
Woodbine Mohawk Park is due back in session on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 7:10 p.m. EST.
