Logan Park (Archangel) came home to Woodbine Mohawk Park after six weeks abroad and captured the $36,000 Preferred-Handicap Trot on the Monday (Nov. 18) harness racing card.
The gelding was parked out heading into the first turn but pushed on past the quarter in :27.2 to take command for Doug McNair. The gelding had an unchallenged lead through middle fractions of :56.3 and 1:25.4 with Amigo Volo (James MacDonald), seeking his third straight win, in the pocket.
Logan Park held firm into the lead eighth of a mile, when Amigo Volo began to tighten the screws. The latter charged in the final meters, but Logan Park hung on by a head to prevail in 1:52.4.
Amigo Volo had to settle for place. Fashion Frenzie (Louis-Philippe Roy) finished third.
LOGAN PARK REPLAY
Logan Park has tallied 10 wins this season, including the Allerage, Dayton Trotting Derby, and Earl Rowe Memorial. The Kyle Fellows trainee is seven-for-nine in top-level overnight events at Mohawk Park with two place finishes. He has won 34 times and has earned $1,769,425 in 81 career starts.
Ma Isabelle (Alarm Detector, Bob McClure) took the sole Ontario-sired Harvest Series division on the card. The filly closed down loose leader Nautilus B (Trevor Henry) and fired from the pocket down the stretch, rolling to a length-and-a-quarter victory in 1:56.3 over her three-year-old trotting filly rivals. Nautilus B held on for second. Saulsbrook Cami (Roy) completed the ticket.
MA ISABELLE REPLAY
Ma Isabelle has now won three of her past four, including both Harvest Series prelims, after going winless in 14 to start her career. The Tom and Elizabeth Rankin homebred has now earned $52,150 under the stewardship of trainer Shane Weber.
The next card at Woodbine Mohawk Park is slated for Thursday, Nov. 21.
