Logan Park (Archangel) earned his first top-class victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Aug. 15) as he held off charging favourite Forbidden Trade in the $45,500 Open Handicap Trot.
James MacDonald guided Logan Park into the pocket behind Oney Hall (Kadabra), who cut the :26.3, :55.4, and 1:24.1 fractions. Logan Park shifted out at the top of the stretch and quickly dispatched Oney Hall. Forbidden Trade (Bob McClure), rallying from fifth, took flight in the final 1/16th of a mile but was a half-length too late as Logan Park crossed the line in front in 1:51.2.
Hp Mama B (Sylvain Filion), outkicked by Forbidden Trade, passed Oney Hall in the stretch to take the show spot.
The win price was $15.40.
