My Ding A Ling (Betterthancheddar) went last-to-first in four-wide fashion to complete a 48-1 harness racing shocker at Truro Raceway on Monday.
Sophomore driver Keith Legge dropped him to the back, where the colt remained through the first half panels of :28.1 and :59.3. My Ding A Ling, pulled out on the third turn, the fourth horse off the pylons, and went all the way to the outside to advance four-wide as they approached three-quarters in 1:30.
The colt fired into contention with the top two on the final turn, maintaining the four-path. He was widest at the top of the lane but the fastest home, soaring away to prevail by three-and-a-quarter lengths in 2:02.
The first-over Roll Your Coin (Bernard McCallum) persevered for second. All Bettor (Kenneth Parker Jr.) was third.
MY DING A LING REPLAY
My Ding A Ling had not hit the board in five prior starts, but his most recent win came at the same level as Monday’s victory. The Carrie Saunders-trained sophomore is now three-for-19 with $4,243 in lifetime earnings for Adrian Saunders of Moncton.
Saunders also won with Western Phil (Sportswriter) for a double on the day’s card.
Racing is set to continue at Truro Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 20.
