The MBSSBA Futurity Final was the feature harness racing contest on the nine-dash card held Saturday (Sep. 30) at the Loop. Eight pacing three-year-olds lined up behind the starting gate to battle over the purse of $16,606.
Looeymagooey (Vertical Horizon) took the early lead and set up the race with a 29.3 opening quarter. He was untouched the whole race and won wire-to-wire in 2:00.2. Braxtons Boy charged late to finish second place, with Ak Nite Lady rounding out the top three.
LOOEYMAGOOEY REPLAY
This was Looeymagooeyās third win of his career and his first since Aug. 19. His lifetime mark of 1:57.1 was achieved at Century Downs in May. Looeymagooey has been having ups and downs all summer, but he can clearly show up when needed. He snuck into the finals with a fourth-place finish in the Futurity eliminations. David Mooney of Wawanesa, Manitoba, bred and still owns Looeymagooey. Mathew Howlett trains the sophomore pacer, and Richard Remillard was in the bike.
The Kindergarten Stake for two-year-olds was on the undercard on Saturday. Seven rookie pacers went to post for the $10,700 in prize money. Trust Me Alot had the rail and took the lead as the gates swung open. The two-year-old filly opened the race with 30.0 opening quarter and followed that up with 1:01.0 first half mile. She still had the lead as the field started to round the final bend home, but Lookinlikeamillion (Armbro Baylor) sprung late and took it home in 2:02.3.
LOOKINLIKEAMILLION REPLAY
Lookinlikeamillion made his second career trip to the winnerās circle. He finished third in his racing debut but now has won back-to-back times. His maiden winning mile was timed in 2:10.2, but he had to shave almost eight seconds off that time to win on Saturday. Darryl and Sherri Mason bred Lookinlikeamillion. He is owned by George, Valerie, Tara and Garett Isman. Tara Isman is Lookinlikeamillionās trainer, and Richard Remillard gets the driving win in both stake races on the card.
The Loop will host racing again on Oct. 7. Post time is set for 1:00 p.m. CDT.
