Lookinlikeamillion (Armbro Baylor) wired the field for his third straight harness racing stakes victory in the Golden Boy Final at The Loop on Saturday (Sep. 28).

The Tara Isman-trained gelding seized command on the first turn and put up :29.3, 1:00.2, and 1:31.2 panels with no opposition from his three opponents. He kicked it into high gear around the final turn for driver Richard Remillard and soared clear to a five-and-a-quarter-length triumph in 2:01.2. Cartoon Kid (Marc Fillion) finished second, followed by Tough Crowd (Darryl Mason).

LOOKINLIKEAMILLION REPLAY

Lookinlikeamillion swept the Golden Boy with wins in both preliminary legs. He is now seven-for-14 lifetime with $38,251 in earnings. Isman co-owns the gelding with Dr. Valerie Isman of Gladston and Garett Isman of Calgary.

In other stakes action, Manitoba Great Western champion Choozetocruise (Lambretta) took the Silk Lace Final. She went all the way for driver Don Howlett, rebuffing Chasin Rainbows (Remillard) on the turn and allowed no gain down the stretch from pocket-sitter Grit N Grace (Dean Rey), coming home to win by a length-and-a-quarter in 2:00.3.

Grit N Grace was second. Chasin Rainbows faded hard but held onto third.

Choozetocruise is seven-for-10 on the season after going winless in six at two. She has earned $36,868 and won the Manitoba Great Western, the province’s most prestigious stake, earlier this month. Matt Howlett trained the filly to Saturday’s victory for owner Trevor Williams.

Shady Roan (Mr Rock, Clayton Braybrook) continued the speed show in the Juvenile Stake, leading throughout to defeat three rivals in 2:04.3 in a maiden-breaking performance. Wood Morning (Michel Rey) finished second with Van Goghing Fast (Fillion) rounding out the top three.

Shady Roan debuted on Sep. 7 with a place finish in the Kindergarten behind Wood Morning. The gelding is trained by Braybrook for Katie Maclennan of Winnipeg and Aurel Vodon of Virden.

Two driver/trainer teams combine for triples on the card: Darryl Mason and Sherri Mason, and Don Howlett and Matt Howlett.

The Loop continues action on Sunday, Sep. 29 at 1:00 p.m. CDT with a four-race card, the track’s penultimate of the season.
