Mach Steady (Mach Three) captured the Preferred Pace on Friday (Mar. 24) at Fraser Downs, repaying his harness racing owners who claimed him back last week.
The gelding sprinted out from the pylons with Jewels Dragon (Scott Knight), who pushed past to take command before the quarter in :27.3. Brandon Campbell kept Mach Steady tucked tightly in the pocket as Jewels Dragon cut :58 and 1:26.2 fractions.
Campbell turned the gelding loose when entering the final turn, and Mach Steady overpowered Jewels Dragon in the stretch and went on to win by two lengths in 1:54.1.
Waitin Ona River (Kevin Anderson) sat the three-hole most of the way and also rolled by Jewels Dragon late for second. The latter finished third.
