Grit N Grace (Im The Pied Piper) broke her maiden in the first Lady Crocus division for three-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday (Jul. 20) as harness racing returned to Miami Fair.
The filly sat the pocket until swinging out in the third quarter. She blasted to the front and stormed clear by 11 lengths to win in a jog in 1:58.4. Lazar Mania (Michel Rey) held off Im Outrageous Too (Richard Remillard) in the battle for place.
Grit N Grace debuted in 2:07.4 at The Loop on Jul. 6 in a place finish. Lorraine Rey trains, owns, and bred the sophomore filly.
Choozetocruise (Labretta) captured the second split in a similarly impressive performance. Remillard piloted the three-year-old to her second straight win in a wire-to-wire effort clocked in 1:58.4. Chasin Rainbows (Dean Rey) finished second over Is He Watching (Michel Rey), the last horse on-stride in the field of four.
Choozetocruise is perfect in two starts at three after a winless rookie year. She has earned $11,610 in eight lifetime outings. Trainer Trevor Williams acquired the filly in May.
Williams also won with Texasdrifter (Sixdaysontheroad, Marc Fillion, 2:00.1) and Shots Fired (Custard The Dragon, Michel Rey, 1:58.1) for a training triple.
Miami Fair will host another card on Saturday, Jul. 27.
