Major League N (Gotta Go Cullen) went coast-to-coast at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday (Feb. 17) for her first victory at the track of the harness racing season while facing a tougher condition.
She was on top nearly instantly for Ed Hensley with a quick blast and took the field to the quarter in :28. She got a half of :56.3 but advanced the throttle to hit three-quarters in 1:24.4. with Better Be Donna N (Jonathan Drury) mounting a first-over challenge.
Better Be Donna was right there until the final strides, but Major League N held firm and crossed the line a length in front in 1:53.1.
Ahoy (Doug McNair) snuck up the pylons late for second. The flying Lock Bridge (Sylvain Filion) finished third.
MAJOR LEAGUE N REPLAY
Major League N has now won 29 of her 122 lifetime starts and has earned $281,268. Ed and Ashleigh Hensley acquired the mare from Australia in 2019. The 10-year-old, trained by Ashleigh Hensley, is three-for-six this season.
Also on the card, Tesla Power (Betterthancheddar, Sylvain Filion) improved her record to four wins in five tries with a one-and-a-half-length victory that tied her career mark. The Robert Kyle Fellows-trained sophomore debuted on Dec. 30 with a win and has won three of her four outings this year. N. Yolanda Fellows, Patrick Dillon, and Patti Hoskin own the filly.
Woodbine Mohawk Park is set to continue racing on Saturday, Feb. 18 with an 11-race slate that features a $34,000 Preferred Pace.
