Malevolent and Im Sir Scarlet, both sons of Malicious, took the Atlantic Sires Stakes A divisions for two-year-old pacing males on Friday (Jul. 26) at Truro Raceway.

Malevolent brushed from third after the quarter for Paul Langille and led all the way from there, kicking away by two-and-a-half lengths in the stretch for the 1:57.4 victory. All My Lovin (David Dowling) held on for second over Sergeant Crowley (Robert Laffin) after a first-up advance.

MALEVOLENT REPLAY

The winner debuted on Jul. 18 with a dominant effort in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes at Summerside and is now perfect in two starts. Paul Langille trains the gelding for Debbie Francis of Sweets Corner and Rosanne Langille of Lower Onslow.

Im Sir Scarlet wired his opponents in the second split with Darryl Maclean at the lines. He came home a length-and-a-quarter the best in 1:59.1 over Saulsbrook Rockruf (Brodie MacPhee), who circled Here On Earth (Adam Merner) for place. The latter rounded out the triactor.

IM SIR SCARLET REPLAY

Im Sir Scarlet is unbeaten in two appearances, having won his debut in the P.E.I. Colt Stakes on Jul. 18. Maclean trains the colt and co-owns him with Gordon Maclean of Winsloe and Stephen Downey of Quispamsis.

The Atlantic Sires Stakes B division winners were Like A King (Arthur Blue Chip, Dowling), who circled the field and won by a head in 2:00.4, and Onions To Go (Bet The Moon, Corey MacPherson) by three-quarters-of-a-length in 2:00.2.

Truro Raceway is scheduled to resume action on Friday, Aug. 2.
