Braxtons Boy (Whosurboy) and Irish Luke (Youshouldseemenow) captured the harness racing divisions of the MSSBA Futurity on Saturday (Aug. 26) at The Loop.
Braxtons Boy (Michel Rey) made his move from the pocket nearing three-quarters and collared pacesetter Ak Nite Lady (Kevin Hildebrandt) down the stretch to take the first division in 2:03.4. Ak Nite Lady was several lengths clear of show finisher Pixie Chick (Paula Mason) at the line.
Through five starts, Braxtons Boy has three wins and $10,115 in earnings. Trainer Richard Rey co-bred and co-owns the sophomore with Janet Rey.
Irish Luke (Blake Piwniuk) rallied from second-over down the stretch and got past dueling leaders for the second-division victory. Baylor Bobby (Clayton Braybrook) closed with him and took second. My Little Chloe (Cory Manning) finished third after taking air throughout.
It was Irish Lukeās third tally in eight career appearances. He has taken all three of his victories this season for trainer Trevor Williams, who co-owns the colt with Adam Mace of Altona and Michael Williams of Winnipeg.
The Futurity win was the highlight of a four-win training day for Trevor Williams.
The Loop will resume racing on Saturday, Aug. 2.
