CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – On a muddy day with unseasonably high January temperatures, Silverhill Buddy was the only front end harness racing winner Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The David Myers trained pacer lead at every call in the New Year's Pace at the capital oval as David Dowling gave him a 2:04.2 steer over a track with a five-second variant. The six-year-old son of Proven Lover is owned by Myers along with Joanne MacRae of Charlottetown and Gwyneth McGuirk of Fort Augustus.
After leading all driver for 10 straight seasons, Marc Campbell got a head start on the 2020 driving standings as he won the first dash of the calendar year with Fusspot in 2:06.3 then proceeded to win five more races on the program. Campbell won with Windsun Rebel in 2:04.3 and Scoot Out Of Here in 2:05.2 from the Vaughan Doyle stable of Charlottetown as well as Cougar Gal in 2:06.3 for Neil Bambrick of Charlottetown.
Campbell completed his six-win day with the finishing touches of a triple from his own barn as Jetster won in 2:05.4 and Messier Seelster scored in 2:06.2. Red Shores released details on the Race Day broadcast that Saturday January 11th will be Marc Campbell Day to honor the driver's achievements over the past decade at the city track.
Creepin won the $2,900 preferred for driver David Dowling and trainer Jim Quinn in 2:02.2 over Winter Blast (Driven by Jason Hughes) and Screen Test (Corey MacPherson).
MacPherson won two races on the program to begin his countdown to win number 1,000 as he is 21 wins from the milestone.
