Shadow Play son Marshall Zhukov rolled off his leg 2B harness racing victory in the Prospect Series to take leg 3B for freshman pacing colts in dominant fashion at Hiawatha Horse Park on Saturday (Aug. 14).
He moved from the four-hole to the pocket in the second panel, found a seam to the outside on the final turn, and rocketed six-and-a-quarter lengths to the good as he won in 1:57.3. Pebble Beach Pro (Garrett Rooney) moved four-wide on the final turn to claim second. Olcyzk (Preston Shaw) finished third.
Marshall Zhukov, trained and driven by Mario Baillargeon, has now won three of four starts in his rookie year. Fred Macdonald of Cornwall owns and bred the gelding, who has now earned $12,250.
Impressive Dude (My Mvp) made his debut in the other division on the card with Loic Gueriel in the bike. In a field reduced to three contenders by breaks, he popped the pocket going to three-quarters, stepped to the front, and held off Danangus N Donald (Donald Rankin Jr.) for the victory in 2:03.3. Allstar Megastar, the leader for the first half, dropped to third.
Jean Tourigny trains Impressive Dude, a $17,000 Ontario Select sale purchase by Louis-Philippe Roy, Michel Letarte, and Jean Allaire.
Clements led the day among drivers with three victories.
Hiawatha Horse Park returns to action at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.
