This is the fourth and final part of the “Meeting the Manitoba Drivers” series. The last two harness racing drivers in Manitoba will be discussed. Clayton Braybrook and Richard Remillard are the two left to be addressed.
Clayton Braybrook
Clayton Braybrook has made 1271 appearances since he started driving in 2006. He has visited the winner’s circle 125 times and has earned over $324,000 in earnings. Braybrook has driven at several tracks across western Canada over his career. Marquis Downs, Northfield Park, Alberta Downs and West Meadows Raceway are just some tracks outside Manitoba he has been at.
Winless so far in 2023; however, Braybrook picked up ten wins last year. 20202 was the best year of his career in the sulky. He has earned $46,144 in 80 starts and had a UDRS of 0.305. In just nine starts this year, he has finished second three times. Braybrook has been very close to breaking through.
Richard Remillard
Richard Remillard makes his return to Manitoba this summer. He has been driving all over western Canada at Fraser Downs, Century Mile, Track on 2 and Century Downs. He has been driving for over four decades. He has made 5658 starts in the bike and has visited the winner’s circle 947 times. Remillard has over $1.7 million in career earnings as a driver
Remillard has one once so far this year but has finished in the top three six times out of seven starts. His 2023 UDRS is at 0.476, well above his career total. Although he has only made seven starts over the two days at Miami, it’s been exciting to watch this guy continue to find his way near the top every time he is out on the track.
Racing at Miami Fair on Saturday starts at 2:00 p.m. CDT. The Loop is set to open on August 5.
