SUMMERSIDE, PE – Melody Maker (He’s Watching) was forwardly-placed in the Tuesday evening harness racing feature and had no trouble holding his position for victory at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Corey MacPherson sent the Greg MacInnis owned and trained pacer off the wings and protected the rail for every step of the mile in the $3,250 feature. Melody Maker laid down fractions of 27.3, 57.4, 1:26.4 and 1:55.2 to win over Brumby (Driven by Darren Crowe) and Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy). Favoured Howmac Maximus got away fourth and made a first-over bid at the half-mile station but finished fourth.
The feature win was part of a MacPherson driving triple as the Cornwall reinsman also visited the winner’s circle with Tobins Hottie (1:57) for trainer Paul Bernard and Here Comes Emmett (2:00.3) for trainer Melvin Gamester.
Trainer George Rennison came from Truro Raceway and bagged a training triple on the evening winning with Lovemattersmost (Paul Langille) in 1:56, Resuscitate (Langille) in 1:58.1 and Just Another Beach (Ken Murphy) in 2:02.4. Langille also won with 13-year-old veteran pacer Rusty Riley in a sharp 1:55.4 score from his own stable for the driving triple.
Devon Wallace scored a double as a trainer-driver with Rollwithitdarling (1:59) and Silver Spirit (1:59.2).
Total wager was $96,974 on the 13-dash program.
Live racing continues next Tuesday (June 25) at Red Shores Summerside.
