Chief Editor (Sportswriter) won his first harness racing start in Ontario on Tuesday (Oct. 3) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District after moving from Michigan at the end of September.
The gelding, who was one-for-11 in his home state, flashed speed from the pylon post and secured the lead heading into the first turn. He put up a :29.1 opening quarter, and driver Tyler Borth backed down the tempo to the midway point in 1:00.2.
Airline Pilot (Nick Boyd) took off from third passing the stands and pulled to within a length of the leader by three-quarters in 1:29.4. The battle raged around the final turn and into the stretch, but Chief Editor never let his rival past and reached the line up by three-quarters of a length in 2:00.
Airline Pilot was a game second, completing the occupation-name exactor. Allbetsonfritz (Terry Fritz) completed the ticket.
