CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Atlantic champion trotter Mile Hill Willie (Armbro Barrister) delivered a dominant performance to win the Thursday evening (Jul. 7) Open Trot at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Gilles Barrieau gave the winning steer for trainer and co-owner Paul Morrison and co-owner John Breau of Shediac Cape, N.B. Incredible Two (Driven by Kenny Arsenault) set the early tempo in the $2,800 Open trot through splits of 29.1 and 59.4 before Mile Hill Willie began his first-over advance. The duo hit three-quarters in 1:29.3 with Mile Hill Willie drawing off in the stretch to win by two-and-three-quarter lengths in 1:58.4. Sailor Blue (Ken Murphy) closed hard for second ahead of third place Jessiejesorjessica (Damian MacLellan).

Mike McGuigan had a training driving double on the program with Speakingofshadow (Artspeak) remaining perfect in her career with a 1:57.2 victory in two-year-old action. Mark MacDonald of Cornwall shares ownership of the filly with Josh MacDonald of Alberta. McGuigan also won with trotter Headline Howie (Armbro Barrister) in 2:01.2 for owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale.
Mark Bradley also recorded a driving double on the card winning with Shes In The Moment (Control The Moment) in 1:57 for trainer Tom Weatherbie and ownership group of Carl and Blair Hansen, Charlottetown, Isaac Schurman, Kensington and Cecil Villard, Charlottetown, PE. Bradley also clicked with JJ Amelia (Tobago Cays-Fritzel Hanover) for co-owners Jamie MacKinley, Clyde River and James Perrot, Stratford, PE. The two year-old Filly is trained by Earl Smith.
Live racing continues Friday evening at Red Shores Summerside with the Governor’s Plate elimination, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge. Red Shores Charlottetown will hold a Saturday evening program with 6:30 P.M. opening post times for both programs.
