Perfetto (Majestic Son) surpassed $900,000 in career harness racing earnings as he took the featured conditioned trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (Jun. 10).
The nine-year-old sat the three-hole for Dagfin Henriksen through fractions of :26.1 and :55.2 and inherited the pocket as leader Tokyo Seelster (James MacDonald) broke nearing the half. Walkonthemoon (Jonathan Drury), now in command, pulled away by four-and-a-half lengths by three-quarters in 1:23.4 and carried his sizable cushion into the stretch. Perfetto began his charge in mid-stretch, though, and surged late to nab the tiring Walkonthemoon and prevail by a neck in 1:53.2. Kevin Anthony (Trevor Henry) was a fast-closing third.
PERFETTO REPLAY
Perfetto has racked up 31 wins in 133 lifetime appearances. Henriksen trains the nine-year-old, now with a bankroll of $900,481, for Gerald Haggerty of Camden East.
The next card at Woodbine Mohawk Park is set for Tuesday, Jun. 11 with a 7:10 p.m. EDT first post.
