Standardbred Canada reports that after a return to the racetrack one week ago, millionaire harness racing pacer Jimmy Freight prepared for his pari-mutuel debut with an impressive qualifying mile on Friday (Dec. 3) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Driver Louis-Philippe Roy settled the son of Sportswriter into third among six rivals as Shadow In Red tripped the opening timer in :29.1.
Roy right-lined the O’Brien Award winning stallion out from the pylons and lopped to the lead with ease before a :58.1 half. Keeping the tempo honest, Jimmy Freight hit the third station in 1:27.2 before sprinting home in :27.2 under a very snug hold to win by a length and a half over stablemate Shadow In Red in 1:54.4.
Owned by Adriano Sorella and trained by Richard Moreau,Ā Jimmy FreightĀ will look to add to his $1.45 million bankroll before heading back to the stud barn for the 2022 breeding season.
