Covered Bridge (American Ideal) vaulted to victory in the $32,000 Preferred-2 at a snowy Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday (Dec. 13) for his first harness racing win of the year.
James MacDonald had him sitting third behind dueling leaders Saulsbrook Victor (Brett MacDonald) and Dounttouchmytruck (Doug McNair) through the first half with hot fractions of :27.1 and :53.4. Covered Bridge was flushed off pylons entering the final turn but got the cover of Dounttouchmytruck (Doug McNair), who popped the pocket.
Covered Bridge sat behind the top two as they entered the stretch before kicking out and motoring by both. He then rolled to a two-length victory in 1:51.3.
Saulsbrook Victor held onto second over the closing Points North (Sylvain Filion).
