Momas Son Byrne (Sunshine Beach) set a hot tempo on the lead in the $32,000 Preferred-2 at Woodbine Mohawk Park and backed them up by holding on to take the harness racing contest.
On top with a cushion to the quarter in :26.3, Momas Son Byrne (Jonathan Drury) received company from the first-over Lawless Shadow (Tyler Moore) down the backstretch. The leader cut :54 and 1:21.2 middle splits with that rival just off her right flank and straightened for home on top.
Momas Son Byrne vanquished Lawless Shadow soon after, but Cadillac Bayama (Trevor Henry) picked up the gauntlet from the pocket and closed in.Ā The closer made headway in crunch time, but Momas Son Byrne had an extra half-length and held her off to take the top pace in 1:49.1.
Cadillac Bayama was second. Lawless Shadow showed heart and held third.
