Eliminations are needed with 10 harness racing colt & gelding entering into the Moore’s Mile Breeders’ Stake. Two splits are need and are on the program at Century Downs for this Saturday (June 8). Both eliminations have a field of five and will have a purse of $14,000. The splits go in race five and six on the card.
A free program can be found here.
The field for the first elimination is as follows:
- Grey Horizon – Brandon Campbell (3-5)
- Carro P Picasso – Logan Gillis (10-1)
- Nevado Dragon – Nathan Sobey (12-1)
- Come On Santana – Jamie Gray (5-1)
- Rum N Custard – Kelly Hoerdt (4-1)
Grey Horizon (Vertical Horizon) is the heavy morning line favourite and will be tough to beat with having the rail. He won six of his eleven starts last year and only had one finished outside the top two. Grey Horizon fell just short of winning the ABSS Super Final for colts & geldings but still took home his share of hardware. He won his first start of the year in 1:55 and closed the race out with a 29.3 last quarter. Unfortunately, wasn’t able to hold to the lead in the ABSS Marksman elimination and didn’t qualify for that event finals. However, Grey Horizon regained some form and finished second in his last start.
GREY HORIZON REPLAY
Rum N Custard (Custard The Dragon) has been racing great this year and could cause some problems. In five starts, he has only finished outside the top three once. However, he only has one win in 2024 and he paced the mile in 1:55.1. Kelly Hoerdt trains the gelding and will be in the sulky at post time.
RUM N CUSTARD REPLAY
My Picks
Grey Horizon (1) – Rum N Custard (5) – Come On Santana (4) – Carro P Picasso (2)
The field for the second elimination is as follows:
- Tzilcatzin – Chris Brown (5-2)
- Mattuese – Nathan Sobey (6-1)
- One Hot Minute – Brandon Campbell (2-1)
- Yyc On The Horizon – Jamie Gray (10-1)
- Jingle Inmy Pocket – David Kelly (20-1)
One Hot Minute (Westwardo Hanover) has found a higher gear this year and has finished in the top two in three of his four starts. His first career win was a wire-in-wire effort in the ABSS Marksman elimination and his won in 1:56. One Hot Minute tried to duplicate the effort in the Marksman Final but was caught late and had to settle for second place. Brandon Campbell trains and will be in the sulky behind One Hot Minute.
ONE HOT MINUTE REPLAY
Tzilacatzin (Captive Audience) was the one who caught One Hot Minute down the stretch last week. It was his first win of the year and second of his career. It was a career a best 1:55.4 mile for Tzilacatzin and a big improvement on how he had been racing. Chris Brown trains and he will be in charge of the reins on Saturday.
TZILACATZIN REPLAY
My Picks
Tzilcatzin (1) – One Hot Minute (3) – Mattuese (2) – Yyc On The Horizon (4)
The first race kicks off at 2:45 p.m. EST.
