The combination of MT Stables and Down Under horses are having an impact on the Canadian harness racing scene recently. With recent imports over the last year they have had good success with the likes of Ivana Flybye N, Never Mind N, Speedy Domenic A, Fabrizio N, Undrthsouthrnsun N, Long Weekend A and Flossie N.
Harness racing action returned to London on Monday evening at The Raceway at Western Fair District hosted an 11-race card to kick off the fall proceedings at the half-mile oval. Enter Pat Mcgarry A having it’s second start on Canadian soil and was a dominate wire-to-wire winner in the added-distance feature for the trainer/driver duo of J.R. Plante and Brett MacDonald.
The gelding rushed to the lead from Post 5 for MacDonald, and together they led the field through fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:27.2 before drawing clear to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Press Time in a time of 2:04.1 for the 1-1/16 mile event.
Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the five-year-old son of Million Dollar Cam-Lady Pia Lombo won for the first time on North American soil and his eighth lifetime victory.
