Need To Breathe (Riggins) stayed hot on Friday (Jan. 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a third consecutive open-length harness racing win in the track’s Fillies and Mares Preferred-2 and reached $300,000 in career earnings as she did so.
She easily made the front with an early dash, hitting the quarter in :28.1. She took a facile second quarter for Ed Hensley, reaching the midway point in :57.1, and was still unchallenged by three-quarters in 1:25.4.
The mare gave no hope to the pack as she drew away as they entered the stretch and soared home on cruise control for the 1:52.3 victory.
Dabarndawgswatchin (Louis-Philippe Roy) nabbed Snow Shark (Ed Hensley) for second.
NEED TO BREATHE REPLAY
Need To Breathe is perfect for two this season and 11-for-35 in her career. Jodie Cullen conditions the four-year-old for A1stable of Dundas, Paul Sanders of Surrey, and Blair Kidd of Miniota. The mare moved to her current barn last season after an Indiana Sires Stakes campaign that ended in a Super Final victory.
Also on the card, trainer Rod Hughes and his gelding Tymal Tarot (Kadabra) secured their first wins since 2021. The six-year-old was victorious in 1:57.1 in the seventh, paying 19-1. Jamieson steered Tymal Tarot to victory for Hughes, who owns the gelding. They had both not seen wins since Tymal Tarot won on Apr. 1, 2021.
Canadaās top free-for-all pacers will square off in a $34,000 during Woodbine Mohawk Parkās next card. The first of 10 races will start at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.
