The four-year-old mare, Gimmie A Corona (Control The Moment), paced a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2. She beats her previous best of 1:55.0, which she achieved at Georgian Downs last year. James Macdonald pushed her to take the early lead and set an opening quarter in 27.2. She continued to lead the way down the backstretch and passed the half-mile station with the clock reading 56.2. Gimmie A Corona would remain untouched and win wire-to-wire. This also marks her first win at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
GIMMIE A CORONA REPLAY
Gimme A Corona picked up her 14th career win, one of two training wins for Meg Crone on the card. This was Macdonaldās third and final win on the program, winning early with Mass Market (Muscle Mass) in 1:56.1 and D A Lunchbox (Shadow Play) in 1:53.
Ā Sylvain Filion also earned a hat trick in the sulky. He wins the opener with Convoy Hall (Muscle Hall). Filion would later steer back-to-back 7-1 upsets in races four and five.
Mactacular (Tactical Landing) earns her first career win in the fourth race. She found an opening fourth early and sat there until it was time to move. She takes the lead at the half-mile mark as the clock reads 1:00.3. Mactacular would finish with a 57.0-second half-mile and win by a quarter of a length.
MACTACULAR REPLAY
Filionās third win on the night came with Yank My Halo (Archangel) in the fifth. The four-year-old gelding found space in the pocket early. After a quick 27.4 opening quarter, traffic started to form around Yank My Halo. However, he regained second place once the field hit the stretch and charged right on by to win in 1:55.2.
YANK MY HALO REPLAY
Racing resumes at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday, Mar. 1 at 7:10 p.m. EST.
