Standardbred Canada’s Trot Insider reports that an accident in the ninth race at Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Nov. 28) has sent driver Nick Steward to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
In the race, Viper (Austin Sorrie) made a break in fourth as the field approached the three-quarter mark, and that break caused interference to Proberts Legacy (Travis Cullen) and Ateyatefngerslouie (Nick Steward) with both horses falling to the track.
Early reports from officials with Flamboro indicate that the horses are okay as they both walked away from the spill.
Steward was taken by ambulance to hospital, while Cullen and Sorrie took the rest of the night off.
Update:Ā On Monday morning (Nov. 29), Steward’s fiancee Kodie Carther reported that the reinsman did not sustain any broken bones and is now home resting.
