Wheels On Fire extended his top class winning streak to six on Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a wire-to-wire victory in the Campbellville, Ont. harness racing track’s $34,000 Preferred Pace.

The six-year-old gelding surged forward from the start and quickly positioned himself on the front. Driver Doug McNair oversaw fractions of :27.4, :56.3, and 1:24 and encouraged Wheels On Fire as the horse opened up on his five rivals down the stretch. Sintra (Jody Jamieson) emerged from the trailing pack, but Wheels On Fire was in control and finished off the victory in 1:50.1.

WHEELS ON FIRE REPLAY

Sintra was three and three quarter lengths back in second. Rockme Rollme (Bob McClure) held third after a pocket trip.

Richard Moreau trains the $2.80 winner for Brad Grant of Milton. Wheels On Fire, a son of Somebeachsomewhere, has won 31 times and earned $533,523 from 80 lifetime starts.

Woodbine Mohawk Park returns with racing action on Monday, Jul. 12. Four divisions of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots highlight that card with a 7:00 p.m. first post.
