No Plan Intended (Up The Credit) visited The Raceway at the Western Fair District for the first time on Monday (Apr. 24) and completed a wire-to-wire harness racing victory by a slim margin.
Tyler Borth ensured the 1/5 choice secured the front, parking out Night Watchman (Nick Boyd) in a fiery :26.4 first quarter. Night Watchman hung with the leader to the half in :56 but began retreating on the third turn.
Borth kept No Plan Intended to task through three-quarters in 1:24.3 with Ideal Perception (Anthony Haughan) clinging to his helmet from the pocket. Ideal Perception swung to the outside and set to work wearing down the leader. The stallion appeared to be surging by in mid-stretch, but No Plan Intended battled back and stuck his nose out at the wire for a hard-fought victory.
Heza Handy Man (Michael Horner) finished third.
NO PLAN INTENDED REPLAY
No Plan Intended took his first win of the season with that effort. He is 21-for-60 lifetime with $267,134 in earnings. The gelding spent the second half of last season in the Maritimes but returned home to Ontario to begin his 2023 campaign in April. Terry Gallant trains the five-year-old gelding for Jennifer Doyle and Danny Birt of Vernon Bridge.
The win also completed a grand slam on the card for Borth.
The Raceway at the Western Fair District next hosts racing on Tuesday, Apr. 25, beginning at 5:50 p.m. EDT.
