Sunshine Boy (Sunshine Beach) made it a threepeat in the Preferred-Handicap at Fraser Downs on Friday (Nov. 17) with an open-length harness racing victory.

The gelding worked to the front and reached the quarter in :27.2 with the lead. His opponents gave Scott Knight little work to do through the middle half as they raced single-file through :56 and 1:23.3. splits. Sunshine Boy gave pocket-sitter Itll Be Fine (Kelly Hoerdt) no chance, extending the gap in the stretch and finishing the mile with a two-and-a-quarter-length advantage in 1:52.2. Mach Steady beat out Itll Be Fine for second to take the place spot for the fifth straight week.

SUNSHINE BOY REPLAY

Sunshine Boy has won five of his last eight Preferred starts for trainer Jim Marino. He co-owns the gelding with J J J Stables of Prince George and Paul Sanders of Surrey. The five-year-old’s record is now 20 wins in 64 career starts with $230,828 in earnings.

Fraser Downs will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 23.
