Sunshine Boy (Sunshine Beach) shone on a rainy day at Fraser Downs, reaching double-digit top-class harness racing victories on the season as he took the Preferred on Friday (Oct. 18).
Scott Knight sent the gelding on the overland route to the front in the :26.2 first quarter, reaching the top as they came off the first turn. Sunshine Boy got it his was through middle fractions of :56.4 and 1:25, facing no challenges. Itll Be Fine (Dave Hudon) looked to pounce from the pocket, and West Coast Beach (Rod Therres) attacked first-over, but Sunshine Boy held them both off to complete the victory in 1:53.4. Itll Be Fine was a half-length short in second with West Coast Beach third.
SUNSHINE BOY REPLAY
Sunshine Beach has now reached 10 victories in back-to-back years with all of them at the top overnight levels of British Columbia and Alberta this season. Jim Marino conditions and co-owns the gelding with JJJ Stables of Prince George and Paul Sanders of Surrey. The six-year-old has earned $320,603 and won 33 of 91 career starts.
Knight drove four of the evening’s 10 winners.
