Oceanview Rumours goes for five straight in P.E.I. Colt Stakes

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Canada’s oldest Standardbred Stakes will resume Thursday evening with harness racing trotting divisions of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash program gets underway at 6 P.M.

Oceanview Rumours (Green Manalishi) has been unbeaten in her last four starts including a pair of track record performances and draws post 3 in a $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes division for two-year-old trotting fillies. Adam Merner handles the lines of the rookie daughter of Green Manalishi for trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Bill Roloson, Scott Roloson and Joey Aylward. Other top entries include Oceanview Nikki (To be driven by Mike McGuigan) with rail control and Supreme Rockette (Gilles Barrieau) from post 7.

Race 2 is a $18,120 three-year-old filly trot division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes.

Oceanview Daisy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) has post 1 as the favourite for trainer Myles Heffernan Jr., and owners Jackie Heffernan and Barry MacLeod. Top threats are Dusty Lane Wee (Marc Campbell) from post 2 and Gettin Tipsy (McGuigan) from post 5.

Bless Me Father will seek his third straight win in the $18,500 P.E.I. Colt Stakes two-year-old trot colt dash in race 5. Campbell drives the son of Father Patrick for trainer Landon Campbell and owner Donna Van Meer. He faces seven rivals including Dusty Lane Gus (Adam Merner) and Fire The Rocket (Jason Hughes).

The three-year-old trotting colts see P.E.I. Colt Stakes action in race 7 for a $18,120 pot. Gettin Lit  and trainer-driver McGuigan get the top call from post 5 with two straight wins in his rearview mirror for owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale. Camco Laraido (Ken Murphy) is a top threat from post 2 along with Rocket Blast (Corey MacPherson) with post 4.

Woodmere Clara (Clare MacDonald) is the top selection in the race 6 Animal Nutrition Association Of Canada Atlantic Division pace in overnight action.
